Take part to the “Cy4games - Capture The Flag” and represent Italy at the Singapore competition

Registrations open for the first edition of the “CY4GAMES – Capture the Flag on trial”, an ethical hacking competition organized by Cy4gate

Rome, 15 February 2019 - Registrations open for the first edition of the “CY4GAMES – Capture the Flag on trial”, an ethical hacking competition organized by Cy4gate that will take place on May 6 at Elettronica Group Headquarters. The event will gather Italian and international teams from both universities and high schools, and the Italian winning team will have the opportunity to represent Italy to the next Cyber Defence Discovery Camp in Singapore.

The event has the aim to bring Cyber Security to the attention of the academic community and Italian students. On the day of the event, together with their teammates, participants will be able to experience a stimulating competition that will be split in two gaming sessions within the “company’s data breach” framework.

The first session will follow the well-known “Capture the Flag” scheme. Every team, made of five participants, has to capture “flags” (file, code line…) from the adversary while defending its own.

The true innovation of the competition is given by the “legal and managerial” session, where students will make an analysis of the incident (cyber intrusion and data breach): from the incident management to the legal matters’ investigation. In brief, a sort of “trial” where both the company and the cybercrime attacker’s positions will be analyzed.

This subject is part of an exclusive Master Program jointly organized by Cy4Gate and Luiss Guido Carli University coming to its second edition, with the aim of building legal cybercrime skills.

The “CY4GAMES” is part of the initiatives promoted by Cy4Gate in order to develop an ethical and resilient cyber domain. A proof of this is given by the bilateral agreement signed by the company with NCIA – Nato Communication and Information Agency (responsible for the network management and protection) – in 2018. Above all, the main purpose of the initiative is to build a national heritage of competences and skills on this subject, and to provide Italy with ethical hackers able to protect national strategic assets.
